A Rolex Datejust in full 18ct yellow gold, representing a rare early example from the first generation of Datejust production. The case is paired with a matching yellow-gold Jubilee bracelet, offering both intrinsic value and historical significance in the evolution of one of Rolex’s most important models.
The dial shows visible ageing and patina, giving the watch a distinctive vintage character. Applied hour markers and dauphine-style hands remain, alongside the date display at 3 o’clock — a defining feature that established the Datejust as a pioneering design in wristwatch history.
Crucially, this example is authenticated with documentation confirming the reference as 5030 and the presence of the correct Rolex calibre A.295 automatic movement with 19 jewels and the Breguet hairspring. As one of Rolex’s early self-winding calibres, the A.295 is associated with the transition into the first Datejust models, significantly strengthening the watch’s historical relevance. Originally sold at a fraction of current market levels, early full gold Datejusts of this type have seen substantial long-term appreciation.
